Why does my pond smell?

When ponds have low oxygen levels they become anaerobic. Anaerobic ponds have low oxygen levels and smell. When microbes are introduced back into the pond they re-aerify the pond, therefore microbes introduce oxygen into the ponds as the clarify it. Through this process they reduce the smell. Essentially, they are eating the substances that are causing smells in your pond.

What is pond muck?

Muck is made up of decomposing organic matter. Things like leaves, fish and duck waste, grass clippings, etc. all lead to muck. Perfect Pond microbes will feast on this organic matter and over time reduce the muck layer and improve water clarity.

Do Pond Perfecter Pods Kill algae?

Pond Perfecter Pods will not kill anything. You will have to kill the algae blooms first and then use the Pond Perfecter Pods to clean up the dead matter. Pond Perfecter Pods will clean up the muck layer and the microbes will eat all the fecal matter from fish, dead leaves, etc that are in the pond. Also, once you have the algae under control the microbes will eat the NPK runoff from fertilizers. This is what causes algae blooms. Part of this formulation was developed for bioremediation so it's perfect for ponds. How it works? The microbes will eat the phosphorus that causes the algae blooms. It will also use the nitrogen as a food source. Therefore the algae doesn't have a food source and they can't produce. It's a safe way to manage your pond.
